Since entering the Air Force in
2000, Walter Clifton Brown has been turning his goals into
achievements.
Currently stationed at Eglin Air
Force Base in Walton Beach, Florida, Brown will soon be heading to
Masai, Japan for three years. Brown, who recently re-enlisted in the
Air Force, has made goals to set for his future. The ultimate goal,
Brown says, is to make Chief Master Sergeant, something Brown feels
will happen with time and a little bit of patience but having set
the goal is a good start. “Anytime you want to make a career out of
the military, you have to set goals,” Brown said.
Brown began his career in the Air
Force after a few years in college at North Caroline Central in
Durham. Although Brown never considered a career in the military, he
says he felt he wasn’t putting his best foot forward and decided to
join the Air Force while a Junior at NC Central.
While in Japan, Brown says he hopes
to finish up where he left off in school. Brown’s current
responsibilities as a Senior Airman are getting F-15’s ready for
training, a job Brown takes with pride.
Brown has won numerous awards and
has many achievements to boast of, including Load Crew of the Year,
Airmen of the quarter, Maintenance Professional Airman of the
Quarter, Outstanding Airman and many others.
Brown has no plans of leaving the
Air Force and says his future plans do include the Air Force. “In
the Air Force, you have your discipline. It brings out the best in
you. Failure is not an option.”
Brown is the son of Randy C. Brown
of Grifton and Shirley DeBlois of Grifton.
