Wiley Price

Wiley Price has been an active Planning Board member since 1997 and now sits in on meetings as the Chairman of Grifton’s Planning Board.

Price said he became interested in the Planning Board when he obtained some property. Price said at first he questioned how the town could tell citizens what they could and couldn’t do with their property but eventually began to realize the reasoning behind the rules. That is when Price decided to get involved and help Grifton grow.

"I found out I knew a lot about property and I thought I could help it (Grifton) grow," Price said.

Price said that although he enjoys his work on the board, there are a lot of long hours and a lot of work involved.

"There’s a lot of work involved," Price said. "It’s something I enjoy the fruits of the labor, but the labors are many."

As a realtor, Price said his work schedule is flexible to accommodate his Planning Board schedule but between work and Planning Board duties, Price stays busy and on the go and doesn’t have much time for any other volunteer activities.

"I enjoy what I do," Price said.

Volunteering, Price said, is very important for towns like Grifton.

"I think it’s key for volunteers to help, especially smaller towns like Grifton," Price said.
