	A Small town Police Department that serves with pride. Our Police Department consists of 7 full time police officers.
MISSION STATEMENT “To perform our duties and fulfill our responsibilities of enforcing the law, preserving the peace and providing police services so that we improve the quality of life for all citizens within our jurisdiction consistent with the goals and missions of the town of Grifton.” VALUES Policing the community involves a great amount of responsibility and authority. The police cannot and should not be expected to assume that role alone. We, therefore, are committed to involving the community in all aspects of policing which affect the delivery of police services and the quality of life. Policing the community involves the vigorous pursuit of those who commit serious offenses and also the responsibility of enhancing the prevention of crime through community services, police activities and programs, which have a positive impact on our neighborhoods. This department is committed to providing quality leadership in the police profession. We do this through the participation of our employees. We will continue to develop and enhance our innovative programs that should serve as an inspiration to other law enforcement agencies. This department is committed to managing its resources in the most effective manner. This results in an increased level of police services for our community. As individuals we remain proud of our work force. We believe in the dignity and value of all people. This respect allows us to grow as individuals and interact in a healthy environment. STRATEGY The Grifton Police Department is committed to involving the community in all aspects of policing which affect the quality of life in our town. In working towards this involvement, the department offers many special programs. Community - Problem - Oriented Policing A new philosophy of police work is based on the realization that the majority of all police time is spent answering the same type of calls at the same locations. Officers use analysis to determine the underlying causes of these repeat calls and strive to utilize whatever resources are available to better resolve the problems. Ride - Along If you are at least 18 years old and a town resident and you have an interest in law enforcement, you are eligible to participate in the ride along program. This program enables all citizens to accompany an officer and observe first hand the duties of an officer. The New Law Enforcement No longer is law enforcement simply a horse, a gun and a handshake. The 21st century has brought many new advances in training and equipment. Grifton Police Department strives to provide the most up to date training and equipment to better give officers a fighting chance on the street.
