GRIFTON - A DOT grant is involved with helping Grifton upgrade its
sidewalks.
The $41,877.44 grant will involve a $10,469.36 town match, according
to Michael Peoples, Town Administrator.
Phase one will involve putting down sidewalks on Church Street from
Grifton School to St. David Street. People's said they have to stop
there because the curb and gutter ends there. DOT regulations for
the grant prevent sidewalks without existing curb and gutter.
People's said no money has been released yet but says the first
phase of the upgrade is expected to be complete in six to eight
months.
If there is money left over, the town will use it towards other
small projects on North Highland and/or on Queen Street.
