Sanitary Sewer Extension
on NC Highway 11
The proposed project consists of a gravity wastewater collection
system extension along NC Highway 11 North and within the Grifton
ETJ boundary to serve the existing 54 space Pinewood mobile home
park that serves 91% low to moderate income families. The proposed
wastewater collection system extension includes approximately 4,600
linear feet of 15 inch and 1,750 linear feet of 8 inch gravity sewer
with manholes, 54 4 inch service connections and appurtenances.
Wastewater generated from the mobile home park will flow via the
proposed wastewater gravity main along NC Highway 11 to the existing
CMSD Highway 11 wastewater pump station where it then will be pumped
to the CMSD regional wastewater treatment plant for treatment and
disposal.
Along with providing the Pinewood Mobile Home with sanitary sewer
service, the Town of Grifton will open up the NC Highway 11 corridor
to commercial and industrial growth. The new gravity sewer line will
provide service from just North of Littlefield Road to the Hertz
Rental Company on Ernest Taylor Road.
The Town of Grifton is financing this project through various
sources. The first source is a recently awarded $200,000 Rural
Center Grant. The Town of Grifton is matching this $200,000 with a
$200,000 loan from the Global Transpark. The Town of Grifton is also
actively seeking a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
to help fund this project as well. The Town should find out if we
receive the CDBG grant before the end of 2003.
